Random Talker works because strangers treat each other decently. These rules apply everywhere on Random Talker: voice calls, in-call chat, rooms and your profile. They're part of our Terms of Service.
Adults only
You must be 18 or older to use Random Talker. If you're under 18, please leave. If you think you're talking to someone under 18, end the call and report them as "Underage user".
Zero tolerance
Any of these gets the longest ban we issue straight away. Where the law requires it, or someone is at risk, we also pass what we know to the police.
- Anything sexual involving someone under 18, grooming a minor, or trying to contact a minor off the app
- Threatening to hurt someone, or encouraging someone to hurt themselves
- Sharing someone's private information, such as their name, address, phone number or photos, without their consent (doxxing)
Not allowed
- Harassment, bullying, or hate based on who someone is
- Sexual content or nudity, or pushing someone towards sexual talk
- Spam, scams, ads, asking for money, or phishing and malware links
- Pretending to be someone else, or lying about your age
- Recording or sharing a call, or trying to find out who someone is
- Bots, scripts, or any automated use of the Service
- Coming back on a new account or device after a ban
- Anything illegal
Totally fine
- Talking about almost anything: hobbies, music, games, life, practising a language
- Disagreeing, as long as you stay respectful
- Skipping any call, at any time, for any reason
- Reporting anyone who breaks these rules
How we enforce these rules
We don't record or listen to calls, so enforcement starts with your reports.
Automatic restrictions. When several different people report the same user within 24 hours, that user is restricted automatically. An "Underage user" report restricts the person straight away, before review.
Bans by our team. We review reports and ban people for anything from a few hours up to a year, depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before. A ban covers the account and the device it was used on.
Ban evasion. Coming back on a new account or device while banned is a separate violation and leads to a longer ban.
Police referral. For child sexual abuse, grooming, credible threats, or other serious crimes, we keep the relevant records and report them to the authorities.
See the safety page for how reporting works step by step. To appeal a ban, email [email protected] or contact our Grievance Officer.
Protect yourself
- Stay anonymous. Never share your full name, address, school, workplace or social media.
- Never send money, gift cards, OTPs or passwords, whatever reason you are given.
- Don't move a conversation to another app because a stranger asks you to.
- If a call makes you uncomfortable, skip it. You never owe anyone an explanation.
